Resting in a Winter Wonderland

I cannot believe today is the last day of January! This month flew by. We came out of the holiday season and then seamlessly slipped right back into everyday life. However, I won't deny that I have revisited our winter escape to the Adirondacks in my mind countless times since January arrived.

In between Christmas and New Years Eve, we had a few days to unwind and cuddle up in a cozy cabin, lakeside in the Adirondacks. This little getaway was exactly what we needed. Sometimes, just taking the time to reset puts the body at ease, the mind at rest, and allows the soul to settle into a sweet release.

We were able to hike daily, create our own candles, read a ton of books, play board games, roast marshmallows, and catch up on sleep. There was limited technology, but lots of facetime (in real life) with each other. COVID has taught us a lot of things, but I do believe the most important lesson it has shown is that time is precious, and what we choose to do with this time is up to us. Most days we operate on autopilot, but when we take the time to connect, not just with ourselves, but with nature, and one another, we are able to tap into the sweetness that life has to offer.

Here's to some more sweet, restful moments like this one over this next month of February!
